Starting a website is easier when you know what it needs to achieve. You don’t have to choose the technology, write code or understand design. You already know the most important things: what you do and who you want to help.
Start with a goal
Do you want more enquiries, a place to present your services, online bookings or product sales? Pick a primary goal. It will shape the content and the action visitors should find most easily.
A local repair service needs to show its services, service area and contact details. A furniture maker may need more space for photographs, materials and the ordering process.
Gather the essentials
Start with five things:
- your business name and a short explanation of what you do;
- a list of services or products;
- contact details and the area you serve;
- photographs and a logo you have permission to use;
- examples of websites you like, with a note about why.
These don’t need to be polished marketing texts. Notes are a good starting point. What matters is accuracy and a clear picture of your offer.
Write like you speak to customers
Explain the service instead of relying on vague claims. What do you do, who is it for and how does working with you work? Answer the questions people already ask by phone or message.
A specific heading such as “Air conditioning repairs in Rijeka” tells a visitor more than a general slogan. Only mention areas you genuinely serve and services you actually offer.
Plan for life after launch
Who updates opening hours, adds a new service or changes photographs? Decide whether you need a content editor or occasional help. Keep access to your domain and hosting in a safe place.
