Website development

How much does a website cost, and what is included?

Need a website for your business, but finding it difficult to compare quotes? The phrase “website development” can describe very different amounts of work. Before comparing prices, it helps to understand what each offer includes.

What are you actually paying for?

A website is more than text and photographs on a page. First we need to understand your audience, the information they need and the action you want them to take. Then come structure, design, development and testing.

Check whether a quote includes:

  • page planning and design tailored to your brand;
  • layouts for phones and computers;
  • adding text, photographs and contact information;
  • contact forms and agreed functionality;
  • search titles and descriptions;
  • testing, launch and instructions.

What changes the price?

A small business presentation is different from a shop with hundreds of products. Bookings, customer accounts, multiple languages and integrations with existing tools all need additional planning and development.

Content preparation matters too. If your text and images are ready, the project is easier to organise. If they need to be created, that work should be stated clearly. Updating an existing site can also become its own project, depending on its condition.

What about domains and maintenance?

A domain is your website address; hosting is the service that makes it available online. These costs may be separate and usually renew. Ask who owns the domain, whether you have account access and what happens if you change providers.

Agree on maintenance as well. Does it include updates, backups, fixes or content changes? A clear quote separates the initial build from recurring costs.

A good quote explains what you get, when you get it and what it costs.

How do you get a useful quote?

Describe your business, the website’s purpose, the content you have and any special features. Share a few sites you like and say whether you want support after launch.

At trebamweb, prices are on request because we quote for the actual scope. Tell us what you need and we’ll work out the next step.
